Sarah Palin, Kool-Aid Drinkers, Independents, Tea Parties and a Third Political Party

I was talking to a coworker yesterday about the current sad state of the nation. I didn’t see it at the time, but in my thinking out loud answer to him, and my quiet time thoughts since then, I’m starting to think there is something big here…

We’re both hardcore conservatives, but he is a lifetime Republican, and I am still registered Independent. He asked me my opinion of what has happened with Sarah Palin. After I gathered my thoughts for a moment, I said that I wonder if the Republican party is just too corrupt to tolerate Sarah Palin.

He told me also of a couple of Republican acquaintances of his who have jumped on the bash Palin bandwagon.

My out-loud train of thought went something like this…

There are two major parties in this country, and there are Kool-Aid drinkers in both of them.

The Republican party was nowhere to be found during the campaign when the allegations of Sarah Palin’s spending sprees started. If the party leadership had a shred of integrity, someone would have stood tall and told the press that the PARTY bought those clothes for Palin because she’s the only one on either ticket who’s not a multi-millionaire (more on this later), and she needed appropriate clothes for the campaign! DC and Congress has become a swimming pool for sharks—MILLIONAIRE sharks. Palin is not a wealthy person, and never has been. That has become a rarity in modern American politics.

All we got from the GOP was a Can O’ Crickets.

Then after the crushing loss on November 4th, some of the McCain staffers started making allegations of all kinds about Sarah Palin. In my view it was a bunch of despicable CYOA’ers trying to cover their own for a badly run campaign, and they all should have been immediately called out and fired on the spot. I don’t want people like that in the GOP, nor working in government AT ALL!!!

Oddly, Fox News reporter Carl Cameron seemed to gleefully report these allegations as if they were fact. I’ve wondered about this ever since, and one of my liberal friends pointed this out to me as some kind of "proof" of acceptance even by Fox News of Palin’s incompetence. I said then that I would have fired Cameron for that, but suddenly I see this more clearly than I did even just a few days ago. Now I realize they’re not going to fire him or anyone else for seeming to relish reporting dirt on Palin.

At the very least, I would have expected the Maverick himself to have come out and defend his running mate, but no… His silence continues to be deafening. His only response thus far has been basically “These things happen in campaigns…”

Perhaps...

Later I heard some kind of interview where the Maverick gave what I consider to be an unbelievably lame answer regarding the possibility of Palin running for President in 2012. This is the man who thought Palin would be just fine in a McCain Presidency to be “just a heartbeat away from the Presidency” (to quote the left who has no problem with dunderhead Joe Biden being “just a heartbeat away from the Presidency”).

I’m not having any luck finding the exact quote, but McCain basically talked about some other people who will be players in 2012. I don’t think it was on Jay Leno, but it may have been McCain’s appearance on Hannity on January 16 (http://www.newshounds.us/2009/01/17/mccain_refuses_to_endorse_palin_presidency_in_2012.php).

The point is, rather than give Palin his endorsement or at least support first, and then mention that there are a number of other viable contenders, McCain made a point to name other strong REPUBLICAN Governors and then almost as if an afterthought, express his admiration for Palin.

Even Dennis Prager whom I admire greatly, said sometime in March that he didn’t think that answer was “problematic”.

What?!?!?!?

I think if even Prager is in the tank for the GOP, then we are screwed.

To be sure, many of those of whom McCain spoke would likely be good if not great Presidents. But they are REPUBLICAN PARTY MEMBERS, and THAT is my point. The GOP is still a “Good ol’ boy’s” network. I think they simply want to continue business as usual. I think they like the status quo. I don’t think they want some do-gooder with genuine integrity and love of country coming in and messing with tradition and screwing up the system for them.

McCain has made a real name for himself on the left by poking Republicans in the eye, and the GOP leadership know well Palin’s reputation for taking on head-on the corruption in her own party in Alaska.

Therefore the elite GOP establishment seems to have chosen to destroy what it is certain would be a huge pain in its neck, or at least to stand by gazing around and whistling as if unaware while the left continues its assault on her, exploiting the naïveté of Meghan McCain and the knucklehead Levi Johnston, and just sort of passively allow the left to destroy Palin.

And yet it is that very quality—among others—that have endeared Sarah Palin to the hearts of millions of voters.

So that’s the bad news; what’s the good news?

Tea Parties… Millions and millions of fed up, disgusted, Conservative Americans getting mad as hell who aren’t going to take it anymore… Rising numbers of Independents who now outnumber both the GOP and the DNC, due to folks defecting from both parties…

http://themoderatevoice.com/32764/pew-poll-independent-voter-identification-and-centrism-are-surging/

These masses are described to be more centrist, and so this does not necessarily seem to be going the way I would prefer. The piece I read does not specify which social issues were polled, so someone will have to convince me is not just a codeword for liberals in denial. I am willing to be convinced that what it really means is that this group of people are not necessarily polarized over abortion for instance, and would be willing to vote for a candidate who holds most of their values rather than voting for Mickey Mouse or staying home because there is no candidate who holds ALL of their values (Is "Old Lady" reading?)

What it does show is a growing dissatisfaction, and growing anger in both parties with the status quo, and the petty bickering over who is more corrupt, and who will take more money from higher income voters to redistribute to lower income voters, and who is lying about what, and with a Mainstream “news” Media that has chosen its side and given up every last shred of integrity and even any pretense of objectivity.

Could it be that a viable third party could rise from this growing group of Independents, the Tea Parties, and those remaining in both parties who are plain sick and tired and fed up?

I have long said:

The forces at work trying to destroy this country have successfully dragged both major parties further to the left than most people realize. I think if we were all honest, those  like Michael Moore and Cindy Sheehan would join the Communist Party.

The Democrats would rename themselves the Socialist Party.

The Republicans would rename themselves the Democratic Party.

The true Conservatives left over from any party would form a new Republican Party.

Might Sarah Palin be just the candidate that new party needs and wants, especially since the GOP apparently fears her, and no longer wants her?

Is Obama retaining the right to use [GASP!] “TORTURE”?

Even one of Obama’s Kool-Aid cheering section at the DailyKOS seems to be starting to get the inevitable hangover, and is reporting that Obama has apparently reserved the right to use enhanced interrogation techniques if he deems it necessary for national security!

The story at DailyKOS points to this passage from the Obama executive order on interrogation:

(i) to study and evaluate whether the interrogation practices and techniques in Army Field Manual 2 22.3, when employed by departments or agencies outside the military, provide an appropriate means of acquiring the intelligence necessary to protect the Nation, and, if warranted, to recommend any additional or different guidance for other departments or agencies...

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2009/5/22/14027/8479

What in the wide, wide world of sports is a-goin’ on?!?!?!?

This is the guy who STILL claims that he has banned “torture” and continues to rail against his predecessor as recently as May 21st, and his Administration at last check was still talking of pursuing prosecution of the Bush Justice Department for violation of whatever law they can get some activist liberal judge to interpret has been broken.

Tidbits I found really interesting:

I've been struggling desperately lately not to jump to the worst conclusions about where Obama is headed on interrogation and detention policies…

(Like they never jumped to conclusions about what Bush was doing, right?)

As difficult as it's becoming, I really want to give Obama the benefit of the doubt.

(When did they ever give Bush the benefit of the doubt on anything?)

The Two Most Intolerant Religions

I responded to a comment about faith and prayer, where I wrote:

Yet today the left would come unglued if a military commander gave any indication that he was praying for wisdom and guidance that he was making the right decision.

Don't even go there. Next you're going to bring up GWB and the lives of the soldiers in Iraq... just don't. We disagree whether the Iraq War will make us safer, and we won't know for some time, though the left has been claiming since before the invasion that it would fail and it would be a quagmire and we would never win and that it wouldn't make us safer... They couldn't possibly know then, and you can't possibly know now.

What I DO know is that the lives of our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines who were murdered by terrorists before 9/11 WERE wasted, because we did NOTHING to avenge them or to extract a price of any kind from those responsible. And I include Ronald Reagan in this indictment for the mistake of pulling out of Beirut after Hezbollah murdered 241 of our Marines there in 1983.

The left extrapolates from this that that the invasion of Iraq and ultimately the execution of Saddam is somehow payback, revenge, blind retribution on someone—ANYONE for those crimes… (and there the leftist ideology is again revealed—it’s not a war that was declared on US 30 years ago; it’s a law enforcement problem).

I have long said that it’s not just about 9/11.

I was angry after 9/11, and I’m angry that before 9/11 we did not respond in any meaningful way to terrorist attacks on our people. I cite terrorist attacks that killed Americans before 9/11, mostly our military, for my support of the Iraq War.

It’s not just about 9/11!

I'm not saying that I wanted the Iraq invasion as retribution for what has happened to our military people during the tenures of Presidents Clinton, Bush and Reagan.

Appropriate military response should never be about rage or revenge, and righteous retaliation is about more than simple revenge. There are many examples in history to show that blind rage and bigotry can cause people to do horrible things.

On the other hand, sometimes mistakes are made that have nothing to do with rage or revenge. FDR labeled the sneak attack on our Navy and Army on Oahu “dastardly”, but afterward our nation did terrible things to Japanese immigrants and American citizens of Japanese descent after Pearl Harbor.

In spite of this treatment of their families, Japanese-Americans fought bravely in WWII. They were generally forbidden to serve in the Pacific Theater, but in the European Theater, both the 442nd Infantry Regiment and the 100th Infantry Battalion immediately impressed their commanders with their valor in combat, and the 442nd became the most highly decorated unit in the history of American armed forces, including 21 Medal of Honor recipients.

So let us never make the same kind of mistake again.

Wrong as it was, the interment of Japanese-Americans was done not as retribution, but a misguided effort to keep the homeland safe from further Japanese attack.

Today the left continues to repeat the lie that Bush lied about Saddam’s WMDs, but it was really that necessity to protect the homeland from further attack that led us to invade Iraq and depose Saddam Hussein. You can see that in the statements from every Democrat who voted to give President Bush authorization to use military force. I’m not going to bother to quote them or link to them, because anyone who would claim they didn’t happen should just be medicated.

My whole point in the comment above was basically trying to describe what a man in power might go through in making decisions to send young soldiers to certain death. I said that he would likely pray for guidance, pray for wisdom, pray that he was doing the right thing and furthermore that it would be successful so that the lives given bravely would not be in vain.

But even as I wrote it, I could just hear those on the left saying, "But George Bush sent our soldiers to Iraq to die in vain, and you have no problem with that!"

So while I can hear them saying that the lives of the soldiers who have died in Iraq were in vain, I vehemently disagree. And by contrast, those who have been murdered by terrorists with no meaningful response from us WERE in vain. That's it.

So on one hand the left seems quite adept at reading into things that aren't there, as they do with Palin quotes (and when they can’t credibly misinterpret it, they lie and falsely revise it).

On another hand, it's NOT that simple. It's more complicated than adding 2 + 2 and getting 5. It's more like solving 2x +2=6 and saying that x = 5. So let me try to unravel my reasons.

Atheism is the world’s SECOND MOST intolerant religion, and I think committed atheists would fall down in fits of convulsions if they ever saw how our Founding Fathers prayed, not to mention how our military leaders and our succeeding Presidents, including some of their Democratic heroes, have prayed before major military operations like the Normandy Invasion, or the Tarawa Invasion, or Pres. Truman before giving the order to drop the bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I think they have filled their heads with this idea that anyone who prays to God could only be looking for God to tell them what HE wants them to do, and in the mind of the atheist, this makes them “wacko”, and somehow violates the designed firewall between church and state.

In Mel Gibson's movie "We Were Soldiers Once... and Young", Lt. Col. Moore prays with one of his soldiers before they went into battle with the North Vietnamese, even asking God to ignore his new enemy’s “heathen prayers”. Say what you will about Hollywood, the REAL Lt. Col. Moore was Ok with Mel Gibson playing him, and endorsed the movie as historically accurate. I wonder if the left would consider Lt. Col Moore a wacko, now more than 40 years ago…

Believe it or not, I would probably oppose the Iraq invasion today based on one of the commonly cited reasons. Not because of intelligence about WMDs, but another reason. To avoid confusion, I'll explain that later. But any reasonable person MUST concede that we ONLY know that the intelligence was faulty BECAUSE we invaded and verified it. The claims that inspections were working are foolish and naïve. Hans Blix is either a goof or just another corrupt UN official.

For now though…

There is the fact that Bill Clinton, in spite of repeated promises to bring the terrorists to justice, never did a damned thing to the terrorists. Period. Instead he used Saddam's WMDs as an excuse to launch massive and sustained air strikes for the sole purpose of distracting the nation and Congress when he was being impeached for Lewinski. Let’s not get into whether that Congressional fiasco was warranted; it’s irrelevant (or at least it WAS irrelevant until the liberal media started crawling up Bristol Palin’s skirt with a flashlight!) The fact is that he WAS impeached, and ONLY on the night before the vote on his impeachment did he order Operation Desert Fox. There was no new information that we had not already possessed for several weeks, so why THAT NIGHT to start bombing Saddam (and all the innocent civilians who were killed!)? Hmmm…

But I digress… Or am I?

Ronald Reagan at least put the fear of OUR God into Qadafi for his part in Flight 103 and other terrorist actions (or did Qadafi realize it was at least the 3rd time in history that America had kicked Libya/Tripoli’s butt, and that Reagan, like Jefferson, meant business?)

The left goes to great pains to make distinctions between Iran, Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Jordan, Libya, Palestine, etc.

But I don’t see it as a huge disjointed mess.

There is this concept in mosquito infested areas called drain the swamp (thus killing all of the mosquito larvae or at least exposing them to natural predators).

The Middle East is all one big interconnected, interwoven, sometimes hostile to each other, sometimes best of friends Malaria ridden mosquito swamp. Does "Muslim Brotherhood" or “Islamic Jihad” mean anything? Read Lawrence Wright’s “Looming Tower”.

Someday see MY book about all of the pranks that God has played on all of us. In this case, he put all the oil in such a backwards region of the world, all of which is ruled by the world’s MOST intolerant religion, Islam. What a recipe for conflict and bloodshed this has been!

Consider what Iraq was before the 2003 invasion; it was a terrorist supporting nation run by a maniacal dictator and his sons, BELIEVED BY ALL OF THE WORLD ([Cough] Except Russia!) to have WMDs, routinely shooting at our planes patrolling the no-fly zones and in other ways violating agreements that Saddam had made in order to be allowed to stay in power after the Gulf War and following UN Resolutions, and openly hostile to the US AND TO ALL OF HIS OWN NEIGHBORS, AND EVEN TO HIS OWN PEOPLE!!! (i.e., The Kurds whom he gassed)

NOW Iraq is a nascent democracy struggling with what that means, but rather than funding and training terrorists, they are training hundreds of thousands of police, security and soldiers to hunt and kill terrorists. Yes, to survive they will have to cleanse the corrupt and the traitorous from the ranks of their police and military, but we have no room to talk about corrupt government and law enforcement officials.

The left has asked so many times why didn’t we attack Iran, Syria, Lebanon, al-Qaeda, Hezbollah, North Korea, or China. Well, we DID attack al Qaeda, but the media has allowed the American people to forget Afghanistan, other than the Messiah’s empty promises that HE would go and get bin Laden where Bush dared not tread! (Now that the Messiah is in the White House, he is doing OH so much better than Bush did… Or not…)

The left has forgotten how it was that Saddam was not removed from power at the end of the FIRST Gulf War.

The left has forgotten about those SEVENTEEN UN Resolutions ordering Saddam to come clean about the WMDs that he either had or at least WANTED everyone to BELIEVE he had, and which every other intelligence agency in the world believed he had.

I’d like someone to name just one of the other entities that invaded, occupied, and basically raped the citizens of one of its neighbors and threatened its other neighbors, and then after being stopped and finally ejected by UN and coalition forces, had been allowed to stay in power on a number of conditions, including a promise to get rid of its WMDs.

I’d like someone to name just one of the other entities that had been routinely in violation of that promise for the previous 12 years.

I’d like someone to name just one of the other entities that had already been bombed by us REPEATEDLY in previous years for its failure to get rid of its WMDs as ordered.

I’d like someone to name just one of the other entities that had been under economic sanctions imposed by the UN for several years for its open defiance of its previous agreements and previous orders against it.

I’d like someone to name just one of the other entities that had SEVENTEEN UN Resolutions ORDERING it to get rid of its WMDs and to provide documentation of their destruction, and which furthermore had not complied with those orders.

I’d like someone to name just one of the other entities that at the time of the 2003 invasion was being barely contained and only by immense US expenditures to maintain blockading and air patrolling forces in the region, as well as ground forces in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia (much to bin Laden’s eternal consternation!)

I’d like someone to name just one of the other entities that was supposedly under UN sanctions, but was given an exception OSTENSIBLY only for food and medications, but was not-so-subtly using that exception to bribe UN officials and purchase weapons and WMD materials, in the process enriching a not insignificant number of UN officials, including Kofi Annan himself!

I'd like someone to name just one of the other entities for which United States official policy since the Clinton era was Regime Change!

The left either COMPLETELY IGNORES or is COMPLETELY IGNORANT OF these nine ten facts whenever they open their mouths about Iraq.

People on the left said we should go after Iran instead. But wait—wasn’t Bush already being accused of “Rushing” to war in Iraq? (after 12 years of failed containment—yeah, right) If Bush had gone after Iran, he would have been expected to wait for UN approval. Yeah right. Even if he GOT UN approval, he would never, EVER be given wording that would specify, “Get rid of it or face the full fury of the US military!” Bush would be expected to wait through SEVENTEEN or more UN resolutions that Iran would summarily ignore and flip the middle finger at.

Ok, North Korea. Wait, same thing.

China? Same thing.

Pakistan? Same thing.

Are you getting this?

If not al Qaeda and other terrorists hell-bent on destroying the United States, then who ARE the scumbags that our guys are fighting and killing in Iraq, anyway? Could they ALL be former Ba’ath party loyalists?

Furthermore, contrary to what the liberal media propagates, Saddam WAS talking to al Qaeda. Again, read Lawrence Wright's "Looming Tower". Or, I’ll save you the expense of the book. Read this:

Or this:

Or this:

But forget all that for a while…

I doubt it ever occurred to those on the left that we might have actually FOUND the WMDS and sneaked them out where WE could destroy them covertly before the bad guys could launch some kind of attack and get their hands on them. There have been a number of stories about how the ISG was frequently attacked, several armored cars were destroyed, at least two of their number killed and many more wounded…

There was also a story recently about 500 tons of yellow cake uranium that was sneaked out of Iraq and sold to a Canadian firm. Google it.

I know the left wants to believe Bush lied about the intelligence, but they're not willing to believe that he would lie about actually finding stockpiles of weapons.

There ARE men—and women—who put the interests of this country above their own political aspirations. I know the Bush-hating left would never believe that Bush could be one of those men, but I guarantee that Bill Clinton was NOT one of those men. That is why HE never would have had the huevos to go after Saddam as he should have… that is, unless he needed to create a diversion, and then only with a half-assed attempt to create the impression that he was actually getting serious about Saddam, ordering air strikes that did a lot of collateral damage, but which may or may not have actually destroyed ANY of their intended targets…

Yes, what I'm saying is that George Bush simply finished something that Bill Clinton SHOULD HAVE, and occasionally PRETENDED TO, but never did. And 9/11 made it fairly necessary to eliminate any gathering threat to us.

And here is the really telling thing—If Bill Clinton had somehow mustered the huevos to take out Saddam, seeing as how regime change in Iraq became official US policy during his tenure, the left would have supported him rather than opposing him! Did any Democrats oppose Operation Desert Fox?

But why would Bill Clinton have wanted to actually eliminate Saddam? Saddam was quite a useful tool for Bill Clinton. Ultimately it made no difference in the outcome of his impeachment, but a guy has to try, right?

This doesn't come from me knowing anything I shouldn't talk about, but from me knowing a bit about how the military works, and how our government actually works when it comes to threats to our security. It also comes from things I have read, that the left would NEVER read. And finally, because I understand something the left will never admit or accept—that George Bush, though flawed and certainly not the ideal conservative, IS a man who puts his convictions and the interests of his country above his own political interests.

I said that I would probably oppose the invasion of Iraq, but only for one of the reasons commonly given. To the best of my memory, we really didn’t start seeing evidence of this here, until just within the last year. Specifically, the idea that bringing freedom and democracy to Iraq would necessarily bring economic prosperity which the people in Iraq’s neighboring countries would want, driving them to overthrow their dictator governments and spread democracy, freedom and prosperity, improving living conditions throughout the Middle East. I really only needed to look close to home to see the fallacy in that logic. And I’ll bet NO ONE on the left even thought of this.

It is this; when they come HERE, formerly the freest of places to live and among the most prosperous, or Australia, or Canada, what do they do? Eventually they want to enforce Sharia Law and turn it into the same hellhole they escaped from to come here, and give up all of the freedoms they are entitled to here. So I no longer have any faith that they will appreciate the joys of freedom. And please don't say "We told you so!" No one had any clue then what I'm talking about now. The left said we would never win in Iraq, too.

Finally, I said that Lewinsky Gate was irrelevant, until Bristol Palin. For years we have been told that what Bill Clinton did in OUR Oval Office in OUR White House was only his and Hillary’s business. But when a Conservative Republican woman comes onto the scene as a VP candidate, suddenly her daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend’s sex life is EVERYBODY’s business, and Larry King has to ask the moronic Levi Johnston whether they had sex in the Palin house!

But we should be used to double standards and even worse by now…

And there's one more thing. All of the Bush haters always ask "Why didn't we go after Iran?"

"Why didn't we go after North Korea?"

"Why didn't we go after Hezbollah?"

1. How do they know we're not, but not immediately through head-on military confrontation?

2. If Bush had gone after one of these other entities, the left would have just as strongly opposed that too. I doubt anyone will ever admit it, but they don’t hate Bush because of the war: they're against the war because they hate Bush. I'm waiting for the first who is honest enough to admit that.

3. So what they're suggesting is that after Pearl Harbor, instead of island hopping, MacArthur should have gone berserk and just attacked every single Japanese stronghold at the same time, regardless of the limited forces at his disposal. Is that right? Because that really IS what they're saying with this ridiculous question.

Similarly, instead of pushing through North Africa and up through Italy, and then finally assaulting fortress Nazi Europe at the beaches of Normandy, Ike should have attacked everywhere at once and just unleashed a whirlwind of attacks with whatever limited forces HE had at his command.

So where do you start... Let's not start with the biggest and baddest bad guy in the Middle East, one who is only still in power because he agreed to some conditions which he immediately began to ignore and who already has a 12 year record of defying UN orders. NO!!!

...and they accuse us of throwing darts at the Mid-Eastern dartboard to determine who to go after.

But let’s be real; the sad fact is they HATE George Bush, and they would oppose ANYTHING he tried to do (and they have), and they would hate him NO MATTER what he tried to do (and they do). They give him absolutely no credit for a single thing he did right, or for which they would have showered accolades on any Democrat President for having done.

Stick to What You Know

Interesting—No response re: the poorly researched Jefferson quotes, and the out and out lies about both him and Palin.

Yet still the Left continues to perpetuate the lies.

Sarah Palin did not say that GOD WANTS a pipeline in Alaska. She told a church congregation to pray for it.

D K didn't specify, but I think they're zoning in one part that may or may not have been falsified:

"I think God's will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that,"

Nothing in this says that GOD WANTS that pipeline. What she SAID, is that ONLY if it is God's will to do so, will the people and companies be unified to get that gas line built "so pray for that".

THAT is extremism!

D K and I both have made our living as masters of the written word. And there is another concept being ignored here and being basically sodomized by the Left—Lingo. THEY PRESUME TO KNOW AND TO UNDERSTAND THE LINGO.

I have a pretty diverse background, and each discipline I have worked in has its own jargon in which outsiders are pretty much illiterate. This is no less so for Left wing journalists and transplanted curmudgeons who try to read what they want into Christian prayers, speeches, doctrine, etc.

Stick to what you know.

I'll reserve the cheap shot I could take here—that wouldn’t' be very Christian of me. Suffice to say it ain't analysis/interpretation/criticism of Christian doctrine/preaching/beliefs/prayer.

THAT'S what's absurd, and I reserve the right to be annoyed by this incessant Left wing onslaught of DELIBERATE misquoting and misinterpreting Christians by people who, even if they had HONEST intentions, ALSO don’t know what they are talking about. They do it for the sole purpose of demonizing the faith whose values made this country great, and ridiculing to discredit its believers.

But that is NOT extremism.

…even as they call Conservatives and Republicans LIARS on a daily basis.

And that is ALSO NOT extremism.

What a World We Live In

What an upside-down, inside-out, up-is-down, right-is-wrong, right-is-left-and-left-is-just-plain-crazy, mixed-up world we live in.

The Left HATES Sarah Palin. They hated her within ten minutes of hearing her name. Even as they said they knew nothing about her, they hated her. They don’t just think she’s wrong. They don’t think she’s just misguided. They HATE her.

This is extremism:

“Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right, also for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending them out on a task that is from God. That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan.”

—Gov. Sarah Palin at the Wasilla Assembly of God, 8 June 2008

But this is not:

“No, no, no. Not "God Bless America"; God Damn America!”

—Rev. Jeremiah Wright at the Trinity United Church of Christ, 13 April 2003

This is extremism:

“…but I can do my job there, in developing our natural resources, and doing things like getting the roads paved, and making sure our troopers have their cop cars and their uniforms, their guns, and making sure our public schools are funded. But really, all that stuff doesn't do any good if the people of Alaska's heart isn't right with God.”

—Gov. Sarah Palin

But this is not:

“He is one of the most important voices in the 20th and 21st Century, that’s what I think about him. ... When Louis Farrakhan speaks, it’s like E.F. Hutton speaks: All black America listens.”

—Rev. Jeremiah Wright

This is extremism:

Sarah Palin With Flag Behind Her

But this is not:

Terrorist Bill Ayres Stomping on Flag

I said I wasn’t going to waste my time looking up the Sarah Palin quotes, but I did. The more I looked into it the angrier I became.

If Sarah Palin’s words are extremism, then it follows that these words are extremism, right?

“for I know that the Lord is always on the side of the right. But it is my constant anxiety and prayer that I and this nation should be on the Lord's side.”

—Abraham Lincoln

Are these the “idiotic reasonings of a religious conservative”?

How about this one:

“No human counsel hath devised, nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy.

It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and voice by the whole American people; I do, therefore, invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next as a Day of Thanksgiving and Prayer to our beneficent Father, who dwelleth in the heavens. And I recommend to them that, while offering up the ascriptions justly due to him that, for such singular deliverances and blessings; they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it, as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes, to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquility, and union.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the United States to be affixed.” 10-03-1863

—Abraham Lincoln

Was Lincoln a “Bible thumping crazy”? A “religious zombie”? A “Religious wingnut”? A “cyanide laced Kool-Aid drinker”?

How odd that Bill Clinton’s illicit sexual adventures in OUR Oval Office of OUR White House are his own private business, but a Sarah Palin statement made in a house of worship is everybody’s business.

Why is this not a pathetic and disgusting double standard?

But we should be used to the double standards by now, right?

What I found is that the lies about Sarah Palin are more subtle. When Sarah said she didn’t think that was her exact quote, and Charlie Gibson said “Exact words”, if he had an ounce of integrity or honesty, he would have had to say “Well, SOME of them, anyway”.

The quotes were not blatantly altered by inserting words as were the Thomas Jefferson quotes (though leaving out words can have the same effect as adding words). But after taking artistic license with them, the Left wing sources then feed their own interpretations. They can always claim that some of the speech was edited out “for brevity”. Or maybe it’s because Sarah Palin is living and therefore more likely to sue for some form of defamation than long dead Thomas Jefferson.

They twisted Sarah’s statement, which she made IN A CHURCH (no small distinction by the way), into this:

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told ministry students at her former church that the United States sent troops to fight in the Iraq war on a “task that is from God.”…

The Left wing interpretation is that the Christian wacko Sarah Palin is asserting that the US government sent troops into harm’s way because somebody thought God directed them to.

There is another version that ALSO distorts what she actually said by omitting key words, as follows:

“Our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God,” she said. “That’s what we have to make sure that we’re praying for, that there is a plan and that plan is God’s plan.”

Different approach, but has the same effect.

Now read again what she ACTUALLY said—especially note the underlined words that somehow don’t find their way into the versions published in the Left wing news media which were then repeated on the Left wing blogs:

Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right, also for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending them out on a task that is from God. That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan.”

These dishonest news hacks and Leftist bloggers are the same people who every day all day long call Conservatives and Republicans liars.

How weak is your argument when you must lie, and distort facts, and put words in people’s mouths, and omit clarifying words they actually said, and rewrite history to make your point?

Of course those eager to dislike (HATE!) Sarah Palin purely for her politics, those who have an anti-Christian agenda, and those who have an anti-Conservative agenda will hear something completely different and will be quick to attach themselves to anything negative about her, including any of these false interpretations.

And they call Christians religious lemmings?

Since I don’t have an agenda to find reasons to hate Sarah Palin, I hear something completely different even in the falsified versions. I hear nothing in her words that I didn’t hear in a number of churches thirty years ago, and really all my life.

Here just for clarity are the key words along with those that the news media and the Leftist bloggers are leaving out. The bracketed words I have repeated for emphasis as any good grammarian would do to analyze sentence structure.

I Repeat:

Bold = Words the Left wing news media edited out (Yeah, for brevity. Yeah, right.)

[Bracketed] = Words that I repeated for emphasis/clarity as a good grammarian would.

“Pray for our military men and women…”

“[Pray] that our leaders… are sending them [our military men and women] out on a task that is from God.”

“That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for…”

“[pray] that there is a plan…”

“and [pray] that that plan is God's plan.”

Any student of good grammar must agree this is what Palin really meant, and that it is quite different from the liberal hack hatchet job interpretation that Charlie Gibson, the rest of the Left wing news media, and all the Leftie bloggers continue to repeat.

Here are the problems with the Left wing distortions of this quote:

1. She said it in a CHURCH, not in some official government capacity, in City Hall, or even in the Governor’s Mansion.

And in the big picture of our historical heritage, so what if she did?

At what point between Abraham Lincoln and Sarah Palin did people—even elected officials—lose their free speech right to mention God, prayer, or faith, especially in a house of worship (unless that official happens to Barack Hussein Obama)?

At what point between Abraham Lincoln and Sarah Palin did a leader become a fanatic to pray that our nation is doing the right thing in line with God’s will (unless that official happens to Barack Hussein Obama)?

I’d love to hear what Abraham Lincoln would have to say to this current crop of yahoo’s in DC and in the Left wing news media about their anti-Christian extremism.

I submit that anyone who has an issue with Sarah Palin speaking about God and prayer in her hometown church should just start lobbying Congress to remove our right of free speech, and our freedom to worship as we please. Just be honest about what it is you REALLY want.

2. This creative revision changes Palin’s request for prayer that our leaders are sending our troops on a just mission into an assertion that they are on a mission from God and that she knows so because she knows God’s will.

No sane Christian would claim to know God’s will, and I don’t care what any twisted Left-winger or atheist says to the contrary.

THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.

You might find some wacko who professes to know God’s will, but you can’t swing a dead cat anymore without hitting a couple of wackos…

3. It changes her request for prayer that our troops have been sent on a just mission (“that that plan is God’s plan”), again into an assertion that she knows that the Iraq War is God’s plan.

Sarah Palin simply asked that the congregation pray that our national leaders are sending our military on a just mission.

She asked that the congregation pray that there is a plan. To me, and I believe many of us who actually have a bit of religious training, this simply means pray that it will work out in the end to be a net positive, not only for us, but for the Iraqis, and possibly for the entire world.

She asked that the congregation pray that the plan they are praying for is God’s plan/God’s will.

Period. See the Abraham Lincoln quote again.

4. Every election season the Democrats hold a POLITICAL CAMPAIGN EVENT in some Christian church or another and stand around blathering about their Christian faith.

If the Republicans did that, the Left wing news media would give that church a proctological examination. There would surely be cries about separation of church and state, and there would be cries that the church was violating its tax exempt status.

But when the Democrats do it we get Can o’ Crickets

5. Barack Obama gave pastor Rick Warren an interview in which he said:

“As a starting point, it means I believe in -- that Jesus Christ died for my sins, and that I am redeemed through him. That is a source of strength and sustenance on a daily basis. Yes, I know that I don't walk alone. And I know that if I can get myself out of the way, that I can maybe carry out in some small way what he intends. And it means that those sins that I have on a fairly regular basis, hopefully will be washed away.

But what it also means, I think, is a sense of obligation to embrace not just words, but through deeds, the expectations, I think, that god has for us. And that means thinking about the least of these. It means acting -- well, acting justly, and loving mercy, and walking humbly with our god. And that -- I think trying to apply those lessons on a daily basis, knowing that you're going to fall a little bit short each day, and then being able to kind of take note and saying, well, that didn't quite work out the way I think it should have, but maybe I can get a little bit better. It gives me the confidence to try things, including things like running for president, where you're going to screw up once in a while.”

For the record, this is every word of his answer from the transcript. Any response from the MSM and the Leftie bloggers to an Obama statement that he knows Jesus Christ died for his sins?

How about this?

“And I know that if I can get myself out of the way, that I can maybe carry out in some small way what he intends.”

Or this?

“But what it also means, I think, is a sense of obligation to embrace not just words, but through deeds, the expectations, I think, that god has for us.”

No? Can o’ Crickets

I’m sure our Founding Fathers would be Oh So Proud of what we have become.

Re: D K Comments Thread

There has been an interesting thread in the comments after my previous post. Turns out D K is an old friend and a wonderful human being, but nevertheless a die hard, card carrying, Bush hating, and now apparently Obama apologist, Democrat.

I started to suspect based on the initials and remembering hearing a similar van story before. I’m not going to rehash the entire thread here, but I am going to address some of the loose end comments I’ve left.

First, D K started out with “As if the last guy was so wonderful”.

No one who has read all of my posts must admit I have been very critical of George Bush, but there comes a point… The Left just cannot get over Bush! Any alien who might be watching our 2008 election coverage broadcasts some number of light years hence will surely be convinced that Obama/Biden were running against Sarah Palin’s pregnant daughter, and George Bush!

If you discussed some of the worst tyrants in recent history, the typical Leftist will say something like “Well, no one is ALL bad! There’s a little good in everybody!” But I guarantee if you asked “What about George Bush?” their answer would be “Ok, everybody except Bush!”

And even now, more than 60 days after the inauguration, it’s as if Bush is right there on the stage with Obama everywhere he speaks! That’s a pretty pathetic platform only defined by being the Anti-Bush! Get over it already! Gore lost in 2000. Kerry lost in 2004. Even the news media that was in Gore’s corner through the entire campaign concluded in their own recount that Bush had more votes!

The classic sore losers, the Left has never been satisfied with that. Conveniently ignoring the fact that Gore tried to have military absentee ballots thrown out to steal the election, the left has non-stop accused Bush instead of stealing the election.

Then the personal attacks began. Bush is an idiot. Bush is a moron. Bush can’t speak properly. Bush can’t THINK properly (define “think properly”!)

Bush is a drunk. Bush is a DRY drunk (which is it?)

Bill Maher even retouched a photo of Laura Bush to make her look black and blue from a savage beating, and his cackling sycophants cheered. That’s a moral high road, by Jove!

Then there was Cheney is Darth Vader. There was Halliburton blah, blah, blah… Yeah, Cheney quit a $44 Million a year job to “get rich” in a $400,000 a year government job as second fiddle to a moron, a liar, and a drunk while being called a liar and Darth Vader. It all just shows how shallow is the thinking on the Left.

After March 2003, they minted “Bush lied and people died”, which is itself a bald-faced lie.

D K’s response to my rebuttal of her attack on Christians was to cite several falsified quotes some atheist “embellished”, and then attributed to Thomas Jefferson. They ignore history, and when they can’t ignore it, they rewrite it. They falsify 1970’s National Guard documents pertaining to a sitting President in order to influence an election. And they universally call Conservatives and Republicans liars.

Which brings me to an observation. The vast majority of churches in this country have always been some flavor of Christianity. It used to be a sign to a community that you were a decent human being and a pillar of the community to be active in a church, or especially to be a church deacon.

Still, every election season the Democrats hold some kind of campaign event in some Christian church (tax exempt status notwithstanding!) Even Bill Clinton took pains to be seen carrying a huge Bible when it was expedient. I have family members who were once Christ believing, God-believing people. Maybe they weren’t the most devout and didn’t go to church every time the doors were open, but they talked regularly to their kids about God and Jesus and the Bible and prayer.

There has been a dramatic change in just the last few years. Now I hear these same family members and friends say things like “Bible thumping crazies”, “idiotic reasonings of religious conservatives”, “Religious wingnuts are the real cyanide laced Kool-Aid drinkers”. I can see this shift, but they cannot.

And then there were some alleged Sarah Palin quotes that I’m not going to waste my time looking up. I would almost bet money they have been similarly “embellished” to distort the truth and to paint Sarah as a wacko.

D K then gave some advice. “If you wish to make an impression, stay on point. Understand both sides of an issue, then give well-researched, reasoned arguments to back it up your claims.”

Understand both sides?

Riddle me this…

The left OWNS all of the public schools, almost all of the universities (and now apparently even Notre Dame!), most of the newspapers, Hollywood, the textbook industry, all but one cable news channel, both taxpayer funded public radio and TV—NPR and PBS, and now all the branches of government except for the judiciary whose days are numbered under this Administration.

We read and listen to Liberal stuff all day long and every day of the week (Often we have no choice).

And the conservatives whom THEY watch, listen to and read for THEIR understanding of OUR side…?

If I could insert an image Can O' Crickets

The Left refuses to listen to "Faux News". To the Left, truly smart, educated, informed Conservatives WHO ARE ALSO DECENT HUMAN BEINGS, like Laura Ingraham, Hugh Hewitt, Glenn Beck and Dennis Prager are the devil spawn. And from the comments of some Dem family members, the left has even succeeded in demonizing the Heritage Foundation. Wow.

The answer is they don’t watch or listen to or read any real conservatives. They get their understanding of OUR side from Leftist bomb thrower bloggers who rewrite history, and from Leftist talking head “journalists” who get tingles up their leg from the thought of an Obama Presidency. They get their understanding of OUR side from Rush Limbaugh quotes GENUINELY TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT for the sole purpose of creating a diversion from the real crime being perpetrated by Congress and the White House. Those on the Left usually never actually HEAR Jeremiah Wright’s “No-No-No! GD America!” rants. They typically only hear Obama describe him as the crazy uncle that nobody pays any attention at the family gathering, with a still photo of the racist, hate filled, America hating reverend in the background.

And in the end, here is one key difference between the Left and the Right. The Right doesn’t consider most of those on the Left to be “Bad”, but just wrong—often ignorant and sometimes foolish and naïve about history, the real world and the nature of evil, economics, and finance, misinformed by the various ministries of propaganda (MSNBC, CNN, NPR, PBS, New York Times, TIME Magazine, etc.), and blinded by their ideology.

To the Left however, if you’re a Conservative or a Republican, you’re not just WRONG in their view, you’re a BAD PERSON.

D K also advised “give well-researched, reasoned arguments”. Really? Is that what the Left does?

D K should have fact checked the sources for the alleged quotes from the great Thomas Jefferson, because they are forgeries created with an atheist agenda. Check here:

This is by far not the first time I’ve seen this kind of chicanery, hence my skepticism regarding that van story and the supposed Sarah Palin quotes in another comment…

D K is usually more careful than this, so I find it interesting that they find comfort in what they believe to be Jefferson’s words, but they ignore or are unaware of Jefferson’s actual warnings about the dangers of a central bank as Obama grabs and consolidates and demands more and more power.

But I’ll be charitable. Assuming just for a sec that these quotes were authentic, remember that he was a founder and then President of an infant nation based on Christian principles while he TOOK THAT YOUNG NATION TO WAR against the ISLAMIC nation of Tripoli. Which did he fear most?

Gosh, I wonder if Jefferson was after their oil too! Or maybe he was just trying to enrich some Revolutionary ancestor of Halliburton’s founders?

D K made this statement: “politicians and voters who believe our government is the vehicle to force their personal religious beliefs on this country through public office”.

For one thing, I don’t know ANYONE like that! Real Conservatives will always hold that our Founding Fathers understood that there should be a secular government whose power derives from the people who live in a society then based overwhelmingly on Judeo-Christian principles. To claim that anything else happened is revisionist history, just like these “quotes” attributed to the great Thomas Jefferson.

For another, it’s not the Christians trying to force their views on anyone. Christians aren’t trying to go around and mandate that crosses be put up and Ten Commandments plaques be put up in places they never existed before. It is the LEFT who is going around forcing REMOVAL of crosses that have always been in place, or that have been in place for many, many years.

We can argue all day long whether overturning Roe V. Wade and giving the decision back to the states to pass their own statutes at the state level WRT abortion is “forcing personal religious beliefs on this country through public office”, but reasonable people would have to admit they have a terribly weak hand. Again, Roe V. Wade is REALLY what this entire debacle is all about, and the REAL reason the Left seeks to demonize and discredit Christians as wackos.

When in the last 1,000 years have Christians been responsible for anything like “Millions of innocent men, women and children… burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned…” Ok, hardly millions, but I’ll give you Scarlet letters and the Salem witch trials. How about something in the last 400 years?

D K must have missed my point that during that time we have seen many millions murdered by people who had nothing to do with Christianity, and in the 20th Century alone we had Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Hirohito, Lenin, Polpot, Castro, and Che, just to name a few! Again, how many hundred millions have been murdered by these NON-Christian tyrants? Can you say Darfur? South Africa? Somalia? Ethiopia? What CHRISTIAN is responsible for the tens of millions dead and dying in these places in just the last ten years?

To say nothing of the millions of babies slaughtered every year in THIS country, definitely NOT by Christians!

Furthermore, the CHRISTIAN George Bush gets NO CREDIT from the left for having done more to HELP the people of those nations than any President in US history.

For the record, I opposed his $15 Billion AIDS aid package, but far be it from the Left to give Bush credit for ANYTHING! And, where’s the oil in THOSE places?

In the most recent, D K points to a “humorous” video.

As I have noted, some conservatives seem to have been caught off guard by how far left Obama really is, but those of us who know history and have been paying attention have much darker fears than even this attempt at humor portrays.

It's apparent to me that a Democrat must have put this together, and proves once again that the Right understands the Left better than the Left understands the Right.

He Played This Country Like a Harp From Hell [Part 2]

I’m stunned. I think the only thing I find more shocking than that Obama won, is the surprise of many, just two months into his administration, how radical and how far left he really is.

Michael Medved said that Obama is turning out to be “shockingly radical”.

What?

Even Mary Katherine Hamm said that she is surprised that he just seems really inexperienced and in over his head.

What?

Where have you people been for the last two years?

I take great pleasure in listening to Chris Mathews begin to lament the decline of his own portfolio. When does it end? He asked!

But I really did not expect this kind of surprise from conservatives who we would think went in with their eyes more open than Chris Mathews or even the average Democrat.

I'm hearing about all these ANGRY people emailing folks like Hannity, and I can't help but ask, WHERE WERE ALL YOU ANGRY PEOPLE DURING THE ELECTION?!?!?!?

What really scares me is the thought that if these folks had known, might they have done more to see that Obama was defeated. Now we’re all paying the price, Republican AND Democrat.

He Played This Country Like a Harp From Hell…

Well, you did it America. Congratulations! You’ve just elected our first Marxist President. I am stunned. I sat there looking at the screen thinking this has to be a bad dream.

My young son is very much into super heroes. His favorite is Batman. The other day we were watching the second of the Michael Keaton Batman movies, Batman Returns (1992). Christopher Walken is a corrupt businessman who conspires to get Danny DeVito as Batman’s foe, a truly disgusting Penguin, elected mayor of Gotham, as Oswald Cobblepot.

The Penguin attempts to frame Batman as a madman and psychotic killer, but Batman turns the tables on the Penguin by recording Penguin’s rantings to use later to clear his name. At a rally where Penguin hopes to enlist support for his mayoral run, Batman jams the signal from Penguin’s mic and replaces it with the recording he made while being attacked by the Penguin in his Batmobile.

Hey, just relax. I'll take care of the squealing, wretched pinhead puppets of Gotham!...You gotta admit: I’ve played this stinkin’ city like a harp from hell!

Of course the crowd is horrified and they begin to pelt Penguin with vegetables and then duck and run away as he unleashes a torrent of umbrella-machine gun fire. The Penguin is exposed and Oswald Cobblepot is finished.

I can’t help but see some frightening parallels here.

In 2004 I resigned myself for a while to four years of Kerry, though he would have brought our troops home from Iraq in defeat and left Iraq for al Qaeda to set up shop unfettered, and that it would take 50 years or more to undo the damage he would do to the Courts. But I am afraid that Barack Obama is a far more dangerous kind of liberal Democrat.

I believe we may be witnessing the beginning of the end of our Republic just as we now look back at the final days of the Weimar Republic.

Course, as with most things in government, there’s plenty of blame to go around.

"Let the people know the facts, and the country will be safe", said Abraham Lincoln in 1864.

Well done news media for utterly failing in your responsibility to let the the American people know the facts, and indeed the world. You have failed to report the news, to investigate candidates, and to report fairly to the American people anything untoward. Instead you protected your chosen one from any serious scrutiny, choosing instead to focus your proctological examinations on Sarah Palin and her family, and then on Joe the Plumber. Fantastic job you did there. Sarah is now well primed for a Presidential run, and Joe for a Congressional run in 2012.

I wonder how the press fared in the Third Reich…

Well done Bush Administration for redefining conservatism in terms that both the left AND the right can hate, and for being one of the worst communicators in modern history, and for not making the case that you could have and should have on a number of important issues. You’ve also failed us on illegal immigration, and you badly mismanaged the Iraq War. Only when San Fran Nan began to attach dates for defeat in Iraq to budget appropriations bills did you discover that VETO stamp. You knew you would face withering scrutiny, yet you allowed a stalemate to persist for far too long. When are we going to learn that if we send in the troops, give them overwhelming superiority of forces, let them fight to win, and then come home in honor, and to hell with worrying that someone will think we bloodied the bad guy’s nose too badly?

Well done RNC for never failing to give us the lamest candidates to choose from time and time again. Somebody’s head should roll for allowing anti-Mormon bigotry to defeat Romney, and for allowing too many candidates to split the primary vote such that anyone could find something they don’t like about every candidate.

Well done Congress for spending like drunken sailors, and for getting next to nothing done for the last two years except bicker over whose fault the financial meltdown is that you yourselves created and then perpetuated, even as you play politics with and collectively fail to act to prevent the other coming trainwrecks of Social Security and MedicAid.

Well done John McCain for running your usual lackluster, tepid, flaccid campaign whose only bright spots were the speech Sarah gave at the convention, and her mopping the floor with Joe Biden’s hair plugs in the VP debate. You have no clue how we have ached to see this ticket reversed and to see what kind of campaign Sarah would run as the Presidential nominee! But then some of us know that she was also defeated in her run for Alaska Lieutenant Governor before she ran for Governor.

In your concession speech you said something about how you could not have done anything better. Excuse me? I guess you really HAVE never have heard of talk radio or Fox News that would have been friendly and fertile territory to turn Sarah loose! Instead you continued to suck up to your favorite liberal and leftist buddies like Letterman and Larry King, and even the witches of Eastwick on The View, all of whom were not so subtly stabbing you in the back when you weren’t around.

Finally, well done American people for utterly failing to open your own eyes and see what’s right in front of you in this man, that as NPR’s Juan Williams said, we won’t really know whom we have elected until he is in the White House. I don’t have words for how this makes me feel.

One Democrat friend of mine asked me today at work what I would do when Obama wins, and I told him I would weep for my country just as I did on 9/11.

...and then as I did on 9/11, I will get angry and resolve that those responsible must be defeated!

I Wonder How Many Jews Voted For Hitler…

I wonder how many Jews voted for Hitler...

I am really worried about the future of our Republic with the despicable, lying, corrupt and sometimes cowardly, not to mention traitorous news media that has printed national secrets, carried the water for Democrats and for the left since at least 1968. Now they’re carrying the water for Obama, they have attacked Sarah Palin’s family and tried their level best to utterly destroy Sarah Palin, and now they have turned their sights on a common guy who asked the messiah a question and busted open wide the fallacy of Obama’s tax plan. Joe the Plumber is getting more scrutiny than any of Obama’s shady character associations have.

My real fear is that we can expect much worse from an Obama Administration than the ongoing attacks on Joe the Plumber.

But will there be a backlash from We the People? Will anyone ask the news media why they are scrutinizing Joe rather than scrutinizing Obama’s answer that he wants to “spread the wealth around” (which may be one of the most honest and revealing things we have heard from Obama!)

I keep hearing the words of that old saying about the triumph of evil and good men doing nothing…

In 2004 I resigned myself for a while to four years of Kerry, though it would take 50 years or more to undo the damage he would do to the Supreme Court. But the more I learn about Obama the more I am afraid that he is a far more dangerous kind of liberal Democrat.

I am really worried when I see the thickheadedness of the Democrats I know, brainwashed by the MSM and completely unfazed by Obama’s associations with William Ayres, Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, and Rashid Whatzisname-who-hates-Israel. It seems all the Democrats I know think it’s relevant that Joe the Plumber owes $1,000 on his taxes and actually think it’s neat that the MSM has turned the full weight of their news organizations to destroying him.

I am really worried when I see the ignorance and gullibility of the masses who can tell you who won every American Idol but don’t know who Nancy Pelosi is, and can’t name the Speaker of the House.

I am really worried when I see the ignorance and gullibility of those like the lady who said that if William Ayres was such a bad guy, he would not have been hired to teach at a university. What world are these people living in?

I am really worried when I heard my relative this last weekend talking about how the Republicans keep destroying the economy, but thought a subprime mortgage had something to do with the prime rate.

I am really worried when I see the ignorance and gullibility of the masses who somehow and perversely trust Obama more to deal with this financial crisis that the Dems created and perpetuated, and which Obama himself had a hand in creating…

I am really worried when I see the ongoing incompetence of the Bush Administration, and its abject failure to communicate and to behave like genuine conservatives, which has given even the concept of conservatism a bad name…

I am really worried when I see the short-sightedness and utter corruption of the entire Congress more worried about the next election and placing blame after they refuse to act, than they are about doing the right thing, save for a few…

I am really worried when I see the idiocy of those who voted out some of those few like Rick Santorum and even Zell Miller…

I am really worried when I see the traitorous cockroaches in Congress who see fit to apologize for calling their constituents racist, but have yet to apologize to the Haditha Marines for calling them cold-blooded killers. Unfortunately the Marines cannot vote Murtha out…

I am really worried that Democrats cannot get off their broken record single talking point of “the last eight years of failed economic policies”. If it weren’t for George Bush, THEY would be the deer in the headlights with absolutely NOTHING to say! Someone asked what assurance Obama would give that he will not skew to the left after January 20, and the pundits and empty heads can only answer with a question “What assurance will McCain give that he will not continue the failed policies of the last eight years…?” Makes me want to scream, because it is a LIE!!!

I am really worried that there are literally tens of millions among us who still don’t get it that Congress absolutely WILL NOT ACT to prevent a train crash like the current financial crisis or the coming trainwreck that is Social Security and Medicare. After the train crashes, those in Congress who failed to act will do nothing but stand around and point their bony fingers at everyone but themselves. I’m sick of it, and I’m fed up, and I’m angry.

The Dems are right about one thing. If McCain is elected, in a way it WILL be four more years of the same. More of the same incompetent communication, because McCain is no better at making the case he should than Bush is.

Review of American Carol

I took my wife today to see American Carol. It was very funny, and for a retired Navy guy, there were parts that had me in tears--at times from laughing, and at other times with pride to be an American.

I would describe it as part Charles Dickens, part Charlie Daniels, part Leslie Nielsen (of the Naked Gun series), and part 24 TV Series with Keifer Southerland).

I'm not happy that they chose to make little kids say some pretty nasty words and make some gestures they probably don't understand. That really takes away from the Conservative message, and it would have been just as funny without that.

It also seemed a bit disjointed. They could have done a better job of tying the various scenes together.

There were other things that many people just may not get (those who can tell you who won the last American Idol or Survivor, but don't know who is the Vice-President or the Secretary of State). Dennis Prager calls it the age of stupidity. What's wrong is right and what's right is wrong, up is down, and inside is out...

The central character is a spoof of Michael Moore, named Michael Malone. It starts with him in front of Che Guevarra Hospital in Cuba. I think most people won't even recognize the name. My wife has her Master's, and she didn't know the name. She recognized his picture when I showed her. But like many people I have met in California, she didn't know who Wyatt Earp was either...!

Something Bigger Than All of us

I'm worried about this campaign, and therefore I am worried about my country.

Sarah hasn't done well in her interviews with the MSM piranhas--depending whom you ask, anyway. In any event, I'm sure Katie Couric got a nice fat bonus for making Sarah squirm in that first one. WE know it was an ambush and pure "Gotcha!" journalism, but the left is laughing hysterically, and what worries me is whether John McCain knows that.

Remember that McCain wasn't our first choice for a number of reasons. For one thing, he seems always to have been enamored with the MSM hacks who are now trying their level best to destroy Sarah Palin. I'm not so sure he gets that they absolutely freaking HATE her! Maybe he thought his previous sucking up to them would endear Sarah to them or something.

FINALLY today she went on Hugh Hewitt for about ten minutes. I hope to see more of that in the next month plus. There wasn't much we didn't already know, but there are millions who still don't know much about her and need to hear her voice and see her face on every outlet possible--not just on PBS and John McCain's favorite leftie shows like Letterman! Please don't put her on Michael Savage though. The guy is often right, but he's so over the top, and I've already heard his rant about Sarah. There's no convincing that guy. He'll just call her a communist rat and scream at her. I'm sorry, but he gives conservatives a bad name.

I'm reading her bio, Sarah. I just got to the point where she won the Alaska GOP primary for governor, and she and her much more experienced running mate for Lt. Governor are out of money, out of ideas, and they are getting no help from the GOP because she has basically dumped in all their Wheaties. There's something that really touched me.

On page 102, "What Sarah and Parnell shared from the beginning was a sense that they were part of something more profound than personal politics or campaign strategy. That realization forged the beginning of trust between them."

"'It wasn't about Sarah, and it wasn't about me. It was about something bigger. We knew that for this to work, it would have to be through hands greater than ours' Parnell said."

I felt this the night that John McCain announced her and she gave that awesome speech at the Convention. I pray that that something more profound is destined to continue to Washington. I pray for God to guide John McCain because I'm not so sure he will get there the way he's been going. There's a great piece over at Fox News, The Mishandling Of Sarah Palin.

On another note, our leaders are failing us at every level. Ironically, the very party who constantly lectures us about our "World Standing" seems not to be the slightest bit concerned about this "World Standing"!

Someone in a leadership position needs to get on national TV and address the nation and explain this financial debacle and the necessary rescue in terms that "Joe six-pack" can understand. Then they need to lay out a plan to phase out the corrupt pseudo government entities that perpetuated this mess, repeal the Community Reinvestment Act, repeal Sarbanes-Oxley and replace it with something more reasonable and realistic. I'd love to see a few people go to jail too.

If that were done, not only would the Dems currently playing politics with our security and our livelihoods be forced to do serious work for a change and get this done, but the necessary legislation would get all the support it needs, and just maybe we would get a Democrat rout in Congress in the November election.

Unfortunately that is one of my main complaints about the man who SHOULD be giving that talk, George W. Bush.

Mr. President, I acknowledge that you tried to warn Congress to take action before it came to this, but you have failed miserably to communicate the situation to we the people. You have failed to communicate and make the case that you could have and should have on a number of issues, from oil and gas exploration and drilling to Social Security to the Iraq War. Only if Obama is elected will I even miss you on January 21st.

And the Dems are right about one thing. If McCain is elected, in a way it WILL be four more years of the same. More of the same incompetent communication, because McCain is no better at making the case he should than Bush is.

Like Some 5th Grade Punk Kid

Like Some 5th Grade Punk Kid

I never cease to be amazed at the audacity of liberals.

Barack Obama tells his cheering crowd “They must think you’re stupid”, as he stands before the American people, claiming to be an innocent victim of a John McCain smear. As they say in the south, I would love to tell the Illinois Senator about himself.

Tuesday September 9th, 2008, Barack Obama was talking about the McCain/Palin campaign in front of a cheering crowd and said that you can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig. The crowd erupted into applause and cheering at this, and the man would have to be deaf or a moron to not know they were reacting to what he was saying about Sarah Palin. They heard the same thing that I and many other very angry Americans heard.

I don’t care what anyone says; he called Sarah Palin a pig with lipstick.

The man chooses his words much too carefully to have said this by some innocent mistake. In his whiny “Daddy, they’re questioning my patriotism!” denial, Obama claims this is just a McCain campaign smear, and that he, the messiah, is actually the victim and has done nothing wrong.

There is no way on Earth that Obama could not have known what that crowd was reacting to. He calculated it, and he said it on purpose, knowing full well that he would be called on it, but that he could plausibly deny it because there is no way to prove his motive.

He must think we’re all stupid.

And he gets double mileage out of it, because now he can stand there and pretend to be indignant and accuse McCain of slimy “Karl Rove” politics. He stands there and accuses Sarah Palin of playing the "Gender Card" as if he has never played the "Race Card"! Does he think we have forgotten that "Oh, and did I mention he's black?" comment? Very shrewd Senator, but just as transparent, and even more juvenile.

This isn’t the first time Obama has done something juvenile like this. He thinks we didn’t notice when he called Sarah’s hometown “Wasilly”, and then there was the time he slyly (he thought) gave Hillary the finger.

Obama reminds me of a character in a book I read when I was probably in 5th grade.[1] The book describes one young hoodlum in words to the effect of “The kind of guy who never played fair in his life, but always the first to yell ‘Cheater!’”

That’s Barack Obama in a nutshell (and many other liberals too…)

He reminds me of nothing so much as a 5th grade hoodlum who has done something he shouldn’t and then looks straight in your eyes and lies through his teeth that what he did was somehow an accident.[2]

I’m hearing other people compare him to a 5th grader also. I was watching the news, and I heard some women at a rally say that calling girls names is what you do in 5th grade, and they don’t want a 5th grader running the country. Amen!

Yeah, I know all the responsible people (Dennis Prager, Bill O’Reilly, etc.), said publicly that they don’t think Obama meant it that way. That’s what they have to say publicly, because sadly we can’t prove his motive. I would bet money that behind the scenes, off the record, and off camera they would agree with me.

And in the interest of full disclosure, I have every respect for a US Senator, but I have NO respect for Barack Obama. None. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Not because he’s a liberal and a Marxist, but first because he’s just another slimy, dishonest, scumbag, elitist, US military hating, Ivy League educated politician, playing very dirty politics while pretending to be something shiny and new.

My real heartache with this man who wants so much to be the Commander in Chief of the greatest force of fighting heroes in the world, is that he now claims that he loves this country, but he cannot deny that has a problem with our flag, and that he’s very comfortable hanging out with an unrepentant terrorist and other people who openly spew the venom of their HATRED of this country! (And because he’s a liberal and a Marxist who wants to gut our military, surrender to the terrorists, and raise my taxes so he can give tons of money to people who haven’t worked, and sacrificed and saved as my wife and I have!)

I would love the opportunity to vote for a black man for President, and I so wish that race were not an issue, but if we were all honest, we would have to admit that Obama would not be where he is today if he were a white man. He represents the ultimate Affirmative Action. I don’t hold that against him, but against his empty-headed, sycophantic, sobbing, slobbering, adoring and sometimes fainting fans from the DC Beltway to the celebrity mansions in Malibu.

Now, those who know me know that I will set straight a falsehood, regardless who it’s about. I believe we’re nothing if we don’t have our honor and our integrity. I could not live with myself if I cheated to win something, and I could not live with myself if I had to lie or even repeat something I did not personally verify true, to paint even someone I don’t like in a bad light.

To be fair, Sarah Palin came out swinging. No one gets where she is and does what she has without making some powerful enemies. She had to know they were going to come after her. But the kind of attacks I’ve been seeing on her family are reaching a new low of disgusting, dishonest, and just beneath the least bit of human decency. I think Caribou Barbie is kinda cute, but I’ve heard her called White Trash; I’ve heard her called Trailer Trash; I’ve heard her called W-H-O-R-E! You’d think she had a Nazi flag hanging on the outside of her snow machine garage! I don’t know that we would ever have seen this kind of attacks on a WWII vintage Nazi! Was it Diane Sawyer who asked Ahmedinijad what he listens to on his iPod? Good grief!

The truth is that John McCain has caught EVERYONE off guard with Sarah Palin, and the left wing of the DNC (is that redundant?), is in full meltdown. They are panicked, and they don’t know what to do. So they are defaulting to their natural state. They’ve become mean and nasty, and we all know that for all their talk about compassion, liberals as a general rule are meaner and nastier than anyone else on the block.

Is Obama acting Presidential? You have to be kidding me! And not even those on the right are calling him on his just immature behavior!

Someone acting truly Presidential would have recognized that the term “lipstick” has a new context, and would have avoided that word altogether. But he’s desperate and willing to gamble that he will get away with it. He knows the sycophants and the Kool-Aid drinkers will only cheer him, and the responsible people will say they don't think he meant it that way. The rest of us don't have a voice, hence the root of Sarah's appeal in the first place.

The empty suit who would be President is acting like a 5th grader, and in more ways than one. Freaking grow up already, Senator.

[1] It’s called Rascal. It’s about a 12 year-old boy in 1918 named Sterling North who inherits a baby raccoon to raise. Maybe I should add it to my reading list… It’s a great book if you have kids who would like a story about a boy and his raccoon in what seems like a simpler time!

[2] It shouldn’t come as a shock that one of those 5th grade hoodlums is doing life in prison for rape and murder in our tiny Kansas home town. His crime and trial were written about in Reader’s Digest in 1987 or 1988 because he was one of the first people ever convicted using DNA evidence. I’m sure a number of those 5th grade hoodlums are in prison or have done time by now; others have become politicians.

McCain caught me entirely by surprise, but that's what he does!

It really only struck me this morning--I'd cut off my arm before I'd vote for Hillary for President or for VP, and that has nothing to do with her being a woman. She's just not the right woman for the job.

I'd vote for Sarah Palin in a heartbeat, and in part because she's a woman. The now desperate Democrats are trying to say McCain waited until the last minute to decide instead of being "proactive" (?), and that he only picked her because she's a woman, and that he would not have chosen her if Obama had chosen Hillary or another woman.

I don't think that's true, and in any event, I say of course that was a factor, but so what? That's not the only reason, because I'd vote for any man or woman of any color with her credentials. People always operate on multiple levels of motive. McCain was just fortunate to find such a well qualified woman. I suspect he decided a long time ago, but has just kept it very close.

Just as Hillary is not the right woman, Obama is also just not the right man for the job.

Obama has to be kicking himself now, and I'm sure Hillary is fit to be tied. She spent basically her entire political life trying to get into the White House and then BACK into the White House, and she lost out. Then this little upstart Palin comes along and without even suggesting interest in the executive ticket, she is now the Republican candidate for VP! There's always 2012, but who knows what the world will look like by then... Today's Democrats should study what happened to the Federalists for their opposition of James Madison in the War of 1812.

I think although an Obama/Clinton ticket could win, he would have been foolish to pick Hillary. There's too much Clinton Administration baggage (read “uninvestigated, and likely-to-never-be-investigated, corruption), and Bill himself would upstage Obama anywhere they appeared together. That would defeat the purpose in a lot of people's minds, of having the first black President--especially after they used to call Bill the first black President (don't ask me to defend that--I just know they did it!)

Obama could have picked any number of women other than Hillary, but he didn't. He picked Joe Biden, and the only member of Congress with a more liberal, far left voting record than Joe Biden IS Barack Obama! Bill Clinton said Obama "hit it out of the park", but Biden didn't bring any votes. Everybody who was far left and everybody who hates Bush and all the rest of the "evil Republicans" was already voting for Obama.

To be sure, there are those racist crackers who would never vote for any black man, but bringing Biden on isn't going to change those people's bigotry, nor their votes. I suspect any of them who are Bush haters will vote for whatever 3rd party candidates or Independents are running, or just stay home with a six pack and their bug-zapper.

At the same time, McCain has hopefully sealed the deal with those who call themselves conservatives but who were planning not to vote for McCain because they were not willing to “compromise their principles”. They would gleefully vote in or allow to be voted in, Marxist leadership in the White House and in Congress, but they wouldn’t compromise their principles. Wow!

DNC Circus in Denver this week

I’ve been asked if I watched the DNC Convention. I tried to watch some of it, but life and family took priority, and when I did manage to tune in, I had to change the channel after a few minutes. All the speeches are transcripted on the Internet, and I heard all the choice sound bytes later, on the radio. I have to ask, what country are these people living in? They obviously don’t live in the United States I was born and raised in, and which I would give my life to defend.

First, be sure that anywhere that appears the word “invest”, substitute “spend your tax dollars” (I found seven instances, between Hillary, Obama and Joe Biden).

I did see parts of it and saw Ward Churchill and his thugs shove around a Fox News Reporter, and then as I’ve heard the words come from the different speakers, I was struck by a clear (to me) parallel that I may not successfully explain. One of Stephen King’s early works was a novel called The Stand, first published in 1978, and finally made into a movie in 1994 starring conservative Gary “Lieutenant Dan” Sinise as Stu Redman.

It’s a pre and post-apocryphal novel where a biological warfare flu bug gets out of the research lab and wipes out most of mankind. There are scant thousands left who are inexplicably immune to the flu. These folks divide up into two camps, based on dreams of two characters. One is an evil character, not the devil himself, but perhaps a demon, named Randall Flagg, “the devil’s imp”. The other is a 100+ year-old black woman in Nebraska, named “Mother Abigail”.

A bit of King’s background is that he is a Democrat, and a recovering alcoholic. King’s stories are often populated with evil government intelligence, scientific, and research organizations (think black helicopters), and soldiers who are basically mindless thugs who won’t hesitate to brutalize civilians. I have a suspicion that King was sexually abused as a child, but I’ve never seen any overt admission by him. We write what we know, and he writes about a boy being molested by a pedophile posing as a “poleethman”.

A number of things combined at once to inspire King to write The Stand. There was a story about a Chemical/Biological Warfare (CBW) leak that had killed a bunch of sheep. There were SLA photos in which the then still at large Patty Hearst participated, featuring an apparently faceless Donald DeFreeze, and there was something he heard on the radio and had written down:

Once in every generation the plague will fall among them.

Flagg’s people migrated to Las Vegas, and Mother Abigail’s people migrated to Boulder Colorado. Flagg claimed that their society was superior because they had no homosexuals, no drug abusers, no adulterers… His band of goons wearing law officer badges crucified them all.

Well, that’s all very informative, but what’s the point? Just that Ward Churchill, surrounded by his black-shirted goons reminded me very much of Randall Flagg and his goons. Or for that matter, Hitler and his brown shirted goons. There were the repeating words of Dennis Kucinich, “Wake up America”! Surely Dennis Kucinich knows that “Wake up Germany” was a Nazi brown shirt slogan in 1936!

I am awestruck by the single breath contradictions, as I heard story after story of this person or that person who pulled themselves up by their bootstraps, and how Obama’s is the great American story—and in the same breath, America is racist, xenophobic, sexist, ageist, specist, controlled by the oil companies and the pharmaceutical companies, we have the worst economy since the great Depression, and no one can get ahead… and of course, it’s all George Bush’s fault! [YAWN!] It has nothing to do with the Democrats in Congress refusing to allow drilling for more oil, or with Bill Clinton having vetoed it when Congress did pass it. It has nothing to do with forcing mortgage lenders to practice “Affirmative Lending” by pointing out that there were more loans made to white people than to black people, and claiming that this directly correlated to racial discrimination by lenders.

When Hillary was talking about the Underground Railroad and said “When you see the torches in the forest, keep going!” can ANYONE tell me what the hell she was talking about, and what relevance it has to today? And they say the Republicans are stuck in the past?!?!?!?

I can never listen to Michelle Obama; she just makes my ears bleed. I cannot STAND her whining about how hard it is to be a mother and a housewife on $4.2 Million a year, or even on her Hospital Administrator salary of $260K a year. $260K isn’t a huge amount somewhere like SoCal, but in Illinois? But what did me in on her was the “For the first time in my adult life I’m proud of my country”, meaning there was never anything about this country to be proud of before Barack ran for President. And then Barack has the gall to say that we cannot criticize her after she bad-mouths this country.

Bill Clinton I expected to talk about the failed policies of the last eight years, blah, blah, blah party line, blah, blah, blah... He didn’t disappoint.

There was Dennis “The menace” Kucinich. What country do you live in Congressman? Up with this, up with that… I pride myself on keeping this “Family friendly”, but basically Congressman, up yours! Good God, get a clue about the country you live in and which you claim to represent!

Joe Biden I expected to take the party line as well, but to take it even further to the left than Bill/Hillary. He also did not disappoint. “When I got knocked down by guys bigger than me, she sent me back out and demanded that I bloody their nose so I could walk down that street the next day.” Apparently Senator Biden, you did not learn the lesson!

We will hold Russia accountable for its actions, and we’ll help the people of Georgia rebuild.” How will you do that Senator Biden? The same way the UN held Saddam accountable?

The same way Madeline Halfbright and Jimmy Carter held North Korea accountable?

The same way the UN holds Sudan, Rwanda, Somalia, and Zimbabwe accountable?

The same way the vaunted “International Community” held Slobodan Miloševic accountable? (who would still be making a mockery of his years long trial if someone had not finally taken justice into their own hands (I suspect), and helped him to reach room temperature before we all died of old age).

By asking both sides to “show restraint” again?

By going to the UN and ask the Security Council (on which Russia has a veto vote by the way!), to pass 17 resolutions, each asking Russia to leave, each time saying “Pretty please? With sugar on top? Please get of out of Georgia!” and then “Alright Vladimir, we really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, REALLY mean it this time!”

And I am here for everyone I grew up with in Scranton and Wilmington. I am here for the cops and firefighters, the teachers and assembly line workers—the folks whose lives are the very measure of whether the American dream endures.

No Senator, you’re there for their union goons, and for those of their members foolish and naïve enough to believe the unions truly care about them!

And finally, Senator Obama, the messiah himself! Many are saying that it’s a great speech. Fine. Precious few are saying “It’s a great speech, but it’s a bunch of crap!” As usual, the Senator is short on specifics, but long on emotion, rhetoric and platitudes, and with some glaring omissions—like that he plans to dramatically raise taxes on higher income families and on corporations.

So you’re going to give 95% of all working families a tax cut. How are you going to do that Senator? Many of them don’t PAY taxes! Many of them get a US Treasury check each year between January and April for thousands of dollars above and beyond anything they might have paid in. Either you don’t know that and you’re a fool, or you do know it, and you’re making them an empty promise to get their votes. What are you going to do? Give them a BIGGER check?!?!?!?

He found it wasn’t received well when he said “And did I mention he’s black?” So he has new language "I realize that I am not the likeliest candidate for this office. I don't fit the typical pedigree". This is just code for “And did I mention he’s black?” The sad truth Senator, the only people who care are you, and all the rest of the genuine racists in this country, and they are a very small sliver these days.

And when I hear a woman talk about the difficulties of starting her own business, I think about my grandmother, who worked her way up from the secretarial pool to middle-management, despite years of being passed over for promotions because she was a woman.” But again, it’s the Republicans who are always accused of being stuck in the past.

To claim that McCain would not go after bin Laden if we knew what cave he is in, but that he, the messiah, Obama would magically accomplish everything that Bush has failed to do for eight years. Some words come to mind: hype, hyperbole, dishonest, exploit, uninformed, naïve, hubris…

I’m done with this. I sincerely hope that once Stanley Kurtz completes going through the seventy feet of file cabinets full of documents about Bill Ayers, and Barack Obama and the Weather Underground domestic antiwar and terrorist organization, Obama will be finished as a national politician. These people holler and whine about civil liberties and wiretapping, even as they themselves are trying to silence legitimate questions into Obama’s past and his associations with these confessed criminals and terrorists.

Jeremiah Wright

Listening to news tonight, something occurred to me about Jeremiah Wright

I highly doubt I'll get any political analyst job out of my ideas : -), but I have some thoughts really burning tonight...

I was driving around tonight looking for stuff for a little lighting and cable job I've been doing in my house the last few weeks. The radio is wall to wall Obama and "Reverend" Wright.

My first thought after hearing Obama's reaction to the talk his "pastor" gave today was that Obama has to be on the phone with him saying "Man, you gotta just shut up and go away if you want a black man to be President!"

That's when it struck me, that's the antithesis of men like Jeremiah Wright. He doesn't want Obama to get elected, and he doesn't care if he hurts Obama! The LAST thing he wants is for Obama or ANY black man to be elected President. Like Farrakhan, Sharpton, Jackson, Rangle, Julian Bond, Cornel West, (and who's the Banana Boat guy?) et al, he has his own agenda.

The really interesting thing I think is that "Reverend" Wright may not even realize it himself, and if asked, would likely deny it, but would probably be evasive and ask something like "Did you listen to the whole sermon? Well, that nullifies THAT question!" The closest analogy I can give is the way the spouse of an addict (drunk, gambler, whatever), will subconsciously manipulate and sabotage things to actually sabotage the drunk if he/she manages to get some kind of help and start down the path of sobriety (someday I should complete that 3rd BS in Abnormal Psychology...) The spouse is him or herself addicted to chaos, and will try all kinds of things to return the relationship to comfortable and familiar chaos.

"Reverend" Wright has personal, financial, emotional, and political reasons to keep the pot stirred up and to be able to thunder on about "The US of KKK-A"!

The day a black man is elected POTUS, he and all those named above are suddenly out of jobs (and their identity—that’s who they are; that is the very essence of their being, even if it is just a big empty hole right through the middle of ‘em).

So I think Obama's judgment is suffering on this front as well, and no one is talking about it. But hide and watch--we have not seen nor heard the last of "Reverend" Wright. He is now hurting Obama, but he will not be quiet, and he will not go away.

Another possibility is that Obama is thinking ahead more moves than I can in Chess, and this is all part of some scheme he and "Reverend" Wright are both party to. I don't know how this ultimately helps him--I suck at Chess, but it's my skeptical side and just a suspicion I have.
