2009: The Year America Died?

When I got home from work Friday night (July 17), and turned on the news, I saw that yet another “celebrity” had died and was being covered wall-to-wall with interview after interview of people who knew him.

Walter Cronkite

My sympathies are with his family, and I pray that God sustain them during this time of loss.

That said, I think Walter Cronkite was a traitor to the country. His lies about Vietnam, and particularly the Tet Offensive are possibly singularly responsible for the destruction of American will to win the fight, and therefore for our “losing” the war. I maintain that we didn’t lose, but after being made to fight for years with one hand tied behind our back, we were forced by a cowardly Congress to withdraw from the battlefield just as the enemy was on the ropes.

But I’ve had this feeling for a while now with all of these “celebrities” who have passed away this year, that I’m waiting for someone to dub this “The year that America died” or something similar.

We’re a sick culture. We’re losing our WWII veterans at a rate of 1,000 a day or so, and I’ve seen at least two stories now of veterans who made it to the D-Day anniversary at Normandy and were gone within a day or two, and you never hear any of THEIR names in the news.

Anyone see where this is going?

There are things much bigger at stake than these Hollywood and TV nitwits who do not deserve the 27 hour a day coverage they are getting. The day Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson died, I could not find mention anywhere in TV news coverage of the Cap and Trade American jobs for Chinese jobs bill that was being voted on in the House the next day. Not even Fox News took a break from its nonstop, and disgustingly looping coverage of Michael Jackson.

Sorry! I’m not one bit disturbed about one less pedophile in this world. Sadly, the self absorbing and shameless Joe Jackson is probably busily making more pedophiles with the help of Viagra. I’m not a bit sad that one of them has died, but I am disgusted that coverage of MJ's death pre-empted ANY TV coverage of one of two most significant pieces of legislation the House of Representatives has ever voted on, and especially the Democrat and Obama Administration shenanigans to get it passed.

It makes me wonder when the House does finally go to vote on the Obama-destroy-America’s-Healthcare bill, what celebrity will mysteriously die the day before to suck out all the oxygen of any substantive news coverage!

Those of us with our eyes open who saw Obama for what and who he is… those of us who LISTENED to his own words as he told us who he is time and time again are now watching as he takes over the auto industry that helped win WWII, and he takes over the financial sector that has been the envy of the world and the world’s monetary standard since the end of WWII, and is trying to tax any use of energy in the country ostensibly to fight phantom global warming, and now pushing arrogantly to take over and nationalize the healthcare industry on an empty promise that he will reduce costs and make it AFFORDABLE for all Americans (and for illegals).

Where have I heard that word AFFORDABLE before?

Oh yes, I remember now:
