I have Two Questions for “Good” Democrats and Anyone Else Who Supports Obama
#1 TRUST
I've been working on a storage project at home to store tubs for my wife's teacher stuff when it's not in her classroom.
I always like to have the radio on when I'm working like that, and my mind tends to wander at times.
It occurred to me that those who support Obamacare have a great deal of misplaced trust in the federal government, whether they are lifelong "Good Democrats" (whatever that is), or anyone who voted for Obama for racial reasons, or anyone who just bought into the Hopey-Changey con job, or the con job that Obama is trying to provide coverage for 47 million "uninsured" and/or to cut costs. Some of them are even full-on communists who probably actually do have Soviet hammer and sickle flags hanging in their garage as in the dude with green teeth who was probably an undercover agent for the FBI (I wonder if he was related to Michael Moore...).
They need only look at Canada, England, or any other of the countries that have tried government controlled healthcare, and see what a dismal failure healthcare systems become when run by a government.
If these people think things always work better when Americans do it, then why are Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid bankrupt?
If they think Democrats ideas are so much better than those of Republicans, then why are several Democrat states in this country nearly bankrupt?
Why is every city that has been historically run by Democrats, the poorest in the nation?
Why have both Republicans and Democrats chronically and historically underfunded our VA, and the Indian healthcare systems that are mandated by treaty?
Why are the government run healthcare systems in Massachusetts and Oregon such dismal failures? They both ration care, they have both far exceeded their estimated costs, and in Oregon they blatantly endorse euthanasia for seniors. They both do everything that Obama denies his plan will do.
Here's my real point, and let’s put all partisanship aside for just a moment, if that’s possible.
Even if those supporters of Obamacare believe that Obama and the Democrat controlled Congress can somehow create, implement and run this massive unprecedented in the world in scale and scope program better than they have run Cash for Clunkers or the Iraq or Afghanistan wars, what about when the pendulum inevitably swings back to where the Republicans are in control again? (Unless these folks believe that Obama is trying to use ACORN to cook the next census and to fix the 2010 and 2012 elections, and that the Democrats will now be permanently in control—and if they support that, then they are an enemy of our Constitution and an enemy of this Republic).
Do these people trust their very lives and the lives of their children and loved ones to the Republicans as much as they do the Democrats?
I don't. The Republicans are historically just as guilty of failing to fund the VA and our obligation to the Indian nations healthcare as are the Democrats, and they will treat Joe Six Pack no better.
#2 BLAME
The Democrats in DC and the mainstream news media have convinced tens of millions that Bush failed policies and Republican deregulation were the cause of the economic meltdown that occurred during the 2008 campaign.
Here’s what I don’t get—if that were true, then why after six months has this Administration and this Congress done NOTHING to reverse “failed policies of the last eight years”?
Why after six months have they done NOTHING to re-regulate those supposed excessively de-regulated financial institutions?
Anyone who believes that they have done so, please name the legislation and provide the date that Obama signed it.
Instead it seems they are hell-bent on passing massive and sweeping carbon taxes that will literally choke the life out of the businesses and companies and taxpayers in this country in the middle of a deep recession when someone who really wanted re-election should be doing everything possible to stimulate the economy.
Instead it seems they are hell-bent on first spending our grandkids into bankruptcy on Democrat favorite pork projects in the name of “Stimulus”, and then destroying the best healthcare system in the world on the false promises that they are trying to cover those “uninsured”, and to cut costs.
I really would like someone to answer these for me. But any answer that contains “But Bush did…” I will shred, delete or otherwise ignore and dispose of. Obama was supposed to be Mr. Hope and Change, a new kind of politician, new transparency, new ethics, and Bush is no more.
Regardless of political affiliation, it seems to me that anyone has a learning problem who first elects a guy who promises to be different, and then defends his failures and broken promises and not really being any different—just MUCH more of the same, by pointing at what the last guy did.
